DCV isn't properly scaling to my screen

The article explains what to do if your Suite Workstation isn't resizing to the size of your monitor.

Updated over 2 years ago

If you connect to a workstation and, after making the DCV Viewer window fullscreen, the workstation doesn't resize properly, you may experience one of these issues:

  1. ‍You see a windowed view and only a small portion of the screen

  2. You see the entire workstation screen, but have dead space (normally blue) framed around the workstation; the workstation does not scale to be full-screen.

⚠️ If two or more people are connected at the same time, DCV will favor the resolution of the user who connects first. This means that if a user on a larger/higher resolution screen connects first, and then a user on a smaller screen connects second, the smaller screen user will run into problem 1 and will only be able to see a portion of the screen. For this reason, we recommend the user with the smallest screen size connects first when collaborating with multiple editors.

‍How to resolve DCV scaling issues

1. Ensure every user is disconnected from the workstation and that the DCV Viewer application is closed.

2. Have the user that is experiencing the issue reconnect to the workstation.

3. After the impacted user is connected to the workstation, have the user enter full-screen mode on the DCV window on the monitor they wish to use. At this point, the screen should look correct, if not, proceed to step 4.

Additional steps to try if DCV Viewer is still not scaling correctly

4. Go to the search bar in the bottom left corner, and type "displays"
5. Click on "Detect older displays"
6. Under "rearrange your displays" select display 2
‍7. Scroll down to the "scale and layout" section
‍8. Under "change the size of text, apps, and other items" select your desired zoom percentage (100% is the default, anything higher than this will increase the zoom and size of text, icons, etc).
‍9. After making a selection, reconnect as sometimes DCV needs to establish a new connection before being responsive.

If following this process is unsuccessful, please restart your workstation and repeat the process above.
