What is Suite?
Suite enables cloud-based post-production workflows, so you can focus on what matters most: being creative and finishing your next project. Suite is the catalyst to make your post production workflow more efficient.
Log into Suite
Go to app.suitestudio.io/login to login using the username and temporary password sent to your email from [email protected]. You’ll be prompted to change the password after you log in.
Connect to a Workstation
After logging in, click on the workstation you want to use and click “Power on Workstation.” This will take about 30 seconds.
Once the workstation is running, click the "Connect" button. If you haven’t already installed DCV Viewer, you’ll be prompted to follow the installation instructions. DCV is the software that allows you to access your workstation remotely.
Once DCV is launched, you’ll be asked to trust the connection. Go ahead and click “Trust & Continue.”
Start Editing
Treat the workstation as your own: install any applications you need, change the preferences, or set your keyboard shortcuts however you like.
The workstation has three drives mounted:
Z: Suite Drive - this is a secure, redundant cloud-based NAS; this is where raw media assets and project files should be stored
C: Local Drive - this is your boot volume where applications are installed
E: Temporary Drive - this is where you’ll typically place cache files. This drive gets wiped each time you restart your workstation, so don’t store important files here
💡 For a more in-depth look at the drives on the workstation, read this article.
Power down a workstation
When your edit session is complete, return to the dashboard on your local machine and click “Power Off Workstation.” After about two minutes, your workstation will be powered off. This will ensure you are not using credits when the workstation is inactive.
💡 Be sure to enable auto shutoff, just in case you forget to power down you workstation.
Increase (or decrease) the power of your workstation
Workstations can be scaled up and down as often as your work requires. The more powerful workstations use more credits. We recommend that you use the cheapest workstation that allows you to get your work done efficiently.
To resize a workstation, log into the dashboard, select the workstation you wish to resize, click "Resize Workstation" and choose the machine you would like to use.
💡 For a more in-depth look at resizing your workstation, read this article.
Add files to Suite Storage
To upload media to your Suite Drive (Z:) from your local machine, you will need to install Suite Storage. If you are using an M1 or M2 Mac locally, you will need to follow some additional steps listed here.
When files are added to Suite Storage on your local machine, they will be available to all workstations in your Suite Studios account.
⚠️ Only team members who will be responsible for uploading raw media will need to install Suite Storage.
