This article provides a step-by-step guide for installing Suite on Apple Silicon M1 and M2 chips.
💡 If you're on an Intel Mac follow this guide instead.
⚠️ If you are unsure if you are on an Intel or M1/M2 Mac, click the Apple icon
on the top left of your home screen and select “About this Mac” and reference the "Chip" information.
Step 1
If you haven't already, download and install Suite from the downloads page.
Download macFUSE 4.8.0 here
Step 3
Open System Settings and click "Enable System Extensions" (you may need to scroll down to find this section). Then, select "Modify Settings".
*For older OS versions, refer to Step 3.1
Step 3.1
For older OS versions, go to "Security & Privacy" and click "General"
Click the lock to make changes (bottom left) > enter your password > click “Enable system extensions”
Step 4
Step 5
Shut Down your Mac and wait 10 seconds for it to fully power off.
Once your machine has fully powered off, press and continue to hold the power button to boot your Mac in recovery mode.
It will take approximately 20 seconds whilst holding the power button for the below screen to appear. Then click “Options”.
Step 6
Navigate to the Utilities tab (top left corner) > select “Startup Security Utility”
Click “Security Policy”
Select “Reduced Security” + “Allow user management of kernel extensions from identified developers” and then click OK
💡 In this case, the term "security", does not refer to safeguarding your system against viruses, malware, or any other harmful code intended to cause damage. Selecting this configuration facilitates the installation of Suite's necessary kernel extension macFUSE, which is identical to the one installed for Intel-based Macs without any additional security steps. macFUSE has undergone explicit approval and signing by Apple. Learn more about macFUSE here.
You will be prompted to enter your password to confirm the change. Once complete, navigate to the Apple icon on the top left-hand corner and restart your Mac.
Step 7
Once restarted, complete the installation process by allowing the MacFuse extension in the “Privacy & Security” section of System Settings, it will be listed under the developer name Benjamin Fleischer (you may need to scroll down to find this section).
7.1 Click "Allow"
Older OS versions can enable this under Security & Privacy > General > Allow
7.2 Click "Not Now"
You may experience a delay after clicking "Not Now" - this is normal.
After Clicking "Not Now", the below image should appear - Click "Restart"
