AVID Media Composer Optimization Guide

Helpful tips and tricks for optimizing your experience with AVID Media Composer in conjunction with Suite.

Updated over a week ago

โš ๏ธ As a first step, all Avid users on Suite should adhere to the guidelines outlined in this "Avid Requirements" document.

1. Setting the "Search Data Folder" Location

For Media Composer projects on Suite you'll need to ensure the "Search Data Folder" is set to your local drive, not the Suite drive.

2. Emulating Bin-Locking

To emulate bin-locking while working with Media Composer projects on Suite you'll need to use a tool called Mimiq.

This tool informs Media Composer that the storage system being utilized is shared, prompting the creation of lock files when bins are in use (among other functionalities).

Mimiq has a 10-day free trial that you can use in conjunction with your Suite free trial to test this workflow for free.

โš ๏ธ Once you decide to move forward you will need to have a Mimiq pro license for it to work with Suite.
