Moving your cache location

Learn how to change the location of your cache to a new internal or external SSD.

Updated over a week ago

By default, your cache location is set to your internal drive and can be updated at any time through the "Cache Settings" page.

If you haven't optimized your cache settings and don't have any cached data, check out this article instead: Adjusting your local cache settings.

Updating your cache location

⚠️ Suite does not work with hard disk drives (HDDs) therefore it is important to always set the location to an SSD that is not formatted as exFAT.

Step 1.

Within Finder or File Explorer, copy the existing Suite cache folder to your new location (either an internal or external SSD).

⚠️ On a Mac and don't see the Suite cache folder? Find it by pressing "Shift+Command+."

Step 2.

Within the Suite application, click "Change Location" and select your new cache folder location.

Step 3.
Wait until you see the "Utilization" bar update with your cached data - this might take a few minutes.

Step 4.

Delete the cache folder from your original location

⚠️ If an external drive is unplugged, your cache will default back to your internal drive - make sure to update the cache location every time you plug in the drive.
