How to Use Bandwidth Limiting in Suite

Optimize Your Internet Connection by Managing Suite’s Bandwidth Settings

Updated this week

Suite is designed to maximize upload and download speeds, but this may affect other internet-related activities. By controlling upload and download speeds, you can optimize how Suite uses your available internet connection and limit bandwidth to reduce strain on your network.

Determine Your Baseline Internet Speed

Before you limit bandwidth, determine your baseline upload and download speed. You can do this by doing an online speed test (e.g. Fast.com, Speedtest.net, etc.) to measure both.

Bandwidth Limiting Settings in the Suite Application

⚠️ Suite requires a minimum speed of 1 Mbps for the upload limit and 100 Mbps for the download limit. If you attempt to set speeds lower than this limit, the app will prompt you to enter a valid value.

Step 1: Navigate to "My Account" and then click on "Advanced Settings"

Step 2: Switch the toggle "On" then limit both upload and download speeds via a slider or by manually inputting a speed in Mbps

Recommendation: Lower your total bandwidth by about 10-20% to start. This way, you’ll still keep things running smoothly but free up speed for other network tasks.

💡 To further improve performance and reduce potential network strain, you can pre-cache files or folders. Pre-caching helps by caching data before it’s needed - reducing the load on your internet connection.
