Learn the difference between On-Demand and Pre-Caching

Updated over a month ago

As you start to access files, you will notice the Utilization Bar start to fill up and you’ll see three indicators:

  • On-Demand (green) – Suite’s intelligent caching system which caches bits of data as they are accessed.

  • Pre-Cached (blue) – Data you have instructed Suite to cache. Ideal for specifying what’s most important to you and ensuring smooth playback from the start (learn more).

  • Free Space (grey) – The unused portion of the allocated cache size.

  • Suite dedicates 80% of your allocated space to Pre-Caching, ensuring what you prioritize is readily available.

  • The remaining 20% is reserved for On-Demand caching, allowing recently accessed data to remain quickly accessible.

  • If no data is Pre-Cached, the entire 100% of the allocated space is utilized for On-Demand caching.

  • Lastly, Suite ensures 10% of your total drive space remains free for best performance.
