Updated over 3 weeks ago

πŸ’‘ Your computer may prompt you for your password between steps. Please enter it whenever you are prompted.

Step 1

Confirm the Suite application is fully quit before moving forward. Open System Settings and go to Privacy & Security.

Step 2

Scroll down and click Enable System Extensions...

2.1 When prompted to restart, click Not Now

Not seeing the below image or seeing something different?

  1. I see "System Software from developer "Benjamin Fleischer" was blocked..."

  2. I see "Some system software requires your attention before it can be used"

    1. Click Details

    2. Check only one of the listed items and click OK

    3. Keep repeating steps a and b until Your current security settings prevent the installation of system extensions and Enable system extensions... appear (above image).

  3. I don't see anything in that section

    1. Ensure Suite is installed.

    2. Ensure you've opened the Suite application.

Step 3

⚠️ If you've already scanned the QR code on your device, skip this step. Otherwise, scan it now to access setup instructions before turning off your Mac.

Step 4

Shut down your Mac and wait 10 seconds for it to fully power off.

Once your machine has fully powered off, press and continue to hold the power button to boot your Mac in Recovery mode. This can take up to 30 seconds of holding the power button.

Wait for your computer to fully shut down

Ensure your Mac is COMPLETELY shut down before proceeding.
This can be resolved by shutting down your Mac and waiting 10 seconds.

Don't release the power button when turning the computer back on

When turning your computer back on, do not take your finger off the power button until you are in Recovery mode. If you release it too soon, it will cause the process to stop.

Step 5

5.1 Once in Recovery mode, you may be prompted to select your account and log in.

5.2 Click Options (If you do not see the below, proceed to Step 5.3)

5.3 Navigate to the toolbar, click Utilities (top-left corner), then select Startup Security Utility (If you do not see the below, proceed to step 5.4)

5.4 Click Security Policy...

5.5 Select Reduced Security, then Allow user management of kernel extensions from identified developers, and click OK.

πŸ’‘ In this case, the term "security" doesn't refer to safeguarding your system against viruses, malware, or any other harmful code intended to cause damage.

Instead, configuring your Mac's Security Policy this way facilitates the installation of macFUSE, a reputable software package that's undergone explicit approval and signing by Apple.

5.6 You will be prompted to enter your password to confirm the change. Once complete, navigate to the Apple icon in the top-left corner and restart your Mac.

Step 6

6.1 Open System Settings and go to Privacy & Security.

6.2 Force quit the Suite application.

6.3 Go back to System Settings > Privacy & Security.

Click Allow, then Not Now until you see the image in 6.4 (you may need to repeat this process up to 5 times).

    1. Force quit Suite and System Settings

    2. Re-open System Settings and repeat step 6.3

  2. I see "Some system software requires your attention before it can be used"

    1. Click Details

    2. Check only one of the listed items and click OK

    3. Repeat steps a and b until you have checked all listed items and see:

    4. Complete step 6.3 (this may take several attempts)

  3. I see "Rebuilding system extensions cache..."
    a. Restart your computer
    b. Launch Suite

    1. If you see the Login page, you're all set

    2. Don't see the Login page? Repeat steps 6.1 to 6.4

  4. My computer crashed, or System Settings crashed

    • Restart your computer

6.4 Click Restart

Step 7

Once your Mac has restarted:

1. Launch Suite and log in.

2. Run the following commands in Terminal:

suite config set -k FUSELESS -v false
