Suite Setup 101: Performance Basics Every Suite User Should Follow

Use this guide to get the best performance while working from Suite.

Updated over a week ago
  1. Point the Suite cache location to an external solid-state drive (SSD) - NOT a hard disk (HDD).

  2. Ensure the SSD is not formatted as exFAT. For best performance, format your drive as:

    1. NTFS (Windows)

    2. APFS (macOS)

    3. Ext3/4 and above (Linux).

    4. For more information on drive formatting, click here.

  3. Allocate as much storage as you can spare. A larger cache allows for quick retrieval of frequently accessed data.

2. Optimize Your App(s) for Suite

Using these apps with Suite? Follow our Optimization Guides on each computer to achieve peak performance:

3. Set Up Your Network for Success

We recommend connecting your computer to the Internet via Ethernet (i.e. a wired connection), especially for large files or resource-intensive workflows.

That said, Suite works well over Wi-Fi too!

If you’re on Wi-Fi or can’t connect via Ethernet, pre-caching any files or folders you’re actively working on from Suite will ensure a smooth, lag-free experience.

We do not recommend using a VPN with Suite.

Why Using a VPN With Suite Isn't Recommended

Using an active VPN connection may produce unpredictable results when using Suite.

If you need to use a VPN while using Suite, test your current VPN client and configuration while streaming from or uploading to Suite. If you suspect your VPN may be interfering with Suite usage, notify your local IT support for assistance before reaching out to support.

4. Pre-Cache Any Data You're Actively Working With

Experiencing lag while editing from Suite? Pre-cache the files/folders that you are working on. Why? How? Learn more here.

5. Reach Out with Any Questions

Feel free to contact us anytime if you need help. (Seriously! Our response time is less than 2 minutes through Suite's live chat.)
